Runnin’ Naked In A Marathon

bad poetry

I have to be up front here, I am loving this silly little game with Serendipitous Web Life in her words it’s a “song-lyric smack-down” and it’s been some of the best fun I’ve had writing in ages.

So my wonderful little American here is my response to The Madness continues…

While I took the insult of heavy metal under my belt and suggested I’d use a bit of country twang instead I had to change my mind a bit. Instead of going full country I went with a bit of rock with a country influence coming from Joe Don Rooney from Rascal Flats.

So Miss America here is my overworking of Theory of a Deadman’s Living My Life Like A Country Song featuring Joe Don Rooney.

You took it all off and ran away
Now you’re running nakkid down the interstate
Lady that stinking will disperse
You’re runnin through the night, but the morning hurts
My god, clothes are gone
Do you get black eyes when you’re made to run

Oh no where did you wrong, you’re runnin’ nakkid in a marathon
Oh will you break your back, you’re runnin’ nakkid down an old dirt track
‘snot bad ‘snot sad, if you end up loosing all the clothes you had
Love’s in town and your clothes are gone
Running nakkid in a marathon

Maybe if you stumble at the finish line
I’ll be sure to catch you on the other side
Got no pants but stole my sneakers
That country gal’s attracting strangers
My god I’m so stoked I’m chasing this girl and my eyes aren’t closed

Oh no where did you wrong, you’re runnin’ nakkid in a marathon
Oh will you break your back, you’re runnin’ nakkid down an old dirt track
‘snot bad ‘snot sad, if you end up loosing all the clothes you had
Love’s in town and your clothes are gone
Running nakkid in a marathon

This is what you are and it’s okay
A sassy cool Texan who is not mundane

Oh no where did you wrong, you’re runnin’ nakkid in a marathon (running nakkid in a marathon)
Oh will you break your back, you’re runnin’ nakkid down an old dirt track
‘snot bad ‘snot sad, if you end up loosing all the clothes you had
You messed around, I now look on
Runnin’ nakkid in a marathon (running nakkid in a marathon)
Oh no where did you wrong, you’re running nakkid in a marathon (running nakkid in a marathon)
Oh no where did you wrong, you’re running nakkid in a marathon
‘snot bad ‘snot sad, if you end up loosing all the clothes you had
Love’s in town and your clothes are gone
Running nakkid in a marathon

  1. I am loving this fun stimulation as well. Thank you! Very entertaining and so fun to read your creativity. It’s amazing! Your hilarious adaptation made me laugh.

    • I do owe a bit of credit to my wife. She’s been playing the song for so long the kids know it word for word, and she put the first nakkid in the lyrics which got me thinking the whole song re-write would work.

I’m loving the game too, I promise I’ll go full country next time so as not to hurt your delicate southern ears 🙂

  2. Unique women are precious and you seem to appreciate her value. Precious treasures, : )
